Do windshield washer pumps break because it’s winter or do we have winter so that windshield wiper pumps can break? It’s a question as old as the automobile and one I found myself asking recently when getting ready to drive back to Canada after visiting in-laws in western New York.
Naturally, the weather was bad, flurries and wind, and naturally my driver’s side windshield washer pump was acting up. I tried the usual array of home remedies: brushed it gently to dislodge any dirt, tried sticking the holes with a pin, but nothing worked. I popped the lid to see how things looked. The washer pump looked fine and the fluid was getting to the pump, so I decided to give it a gentle nudge.
